Annabeth McNamara brings the blue ridge's unique brand of indie-folk-pop, with 6 albums under her belt as well as national and international tours and festivals. She won a grant to record her dream album in the nation's capital and is in the studio working on her next album, which is being funded and directly released to her Patreon community.
Annabeth McNamara, frontwoman of the band Larkspur, grew up nestled in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia just outside Harrisonburg. Her unique brand of indie-folk-pop is likened to Regina Spekter, Feist, and Enya. She was raised listening to her Irish parent's music, which included the Cranberries and Sinead O'Connor, and some of her earliest memories were of listening to Irish folk songs in the back seat of the car.
Annabeth started writing songs at the age of 13 after watching the film Moulin Rouge, and wound up getting signed to a French record label in college after opening for Devil Makes Three and Paper Bird Band. She went on to tour nationally as well as around Europe and Iceland, playing festivals such as Kingman Island and St. Feliu Fest. In 2014, she won the House Artist Grant to make the album of her dreams, "Surprise," at what has been voted the best recording studio in the nation's capital. She is currently in the studio for her 4th full-length album, via the crowd-funding platform Patreon.

"McNamara’s soft, lilting voice floats across the speakers on the wings of her poetic lyrics, telling stories of life, love and loss... Overall, the effect creates a full and vibrant sound that holds a contemporary edge with just the right amount of imagination to pique the listener’s interest." -The Burg. "I really like [Annabeth's] use of repeated figures to sing over." -Peggy Seeger
"She writes her own music and her lyrics are laced with references to the earth, spirituality, fun, and adventure... And even when she is singing songs from the Appalachian region, her voice has a strong resemblance to Celtic superstar Loreena McKennitt." -Prescott Daily Courier. For full article, click here.
"The audience listened to the incredibly clear, high voice of an intuitive singer. Her tone is phenomenal... reminiscent of a mixture of Joni Mitchell, Alanis Morrisette and Cindy Lauper. She sings with her high-caliber voice, precise and sensitive, one with the audience. Close your eyes and enjoy." -N-Land. For full article, click here and scroll down.
